Does the qualification fit in with GCSE qualifications?

Students need to complete group A, which consists of 7 mandatory units. This would give them a QCA score of 125 points, the equivalent of 3 grade D passes in GCSE.

Units to be offered to students.

Group A (light vehicles)

  • LV1 Working safely & effectively
  • LV2 Foundation skills, maintenance & repairs
  • LV3 Construction & routine maintenance
  • LV4 Operating principles of lights, tyres, brakes, steering & suspension
  • LV5 Operating principles of engines
  • LV6 Operating principles of transmissions
  • LV7 Operating principles of vehicle electrics

How long would the course be?

2 years, 3 hours per week.

What are the benefits to the students?

By completing the qualification students would have gained an excellent knowledge of the workings of light motor vehicles. This will make them more employable and enable them to go onto a level 2 qualification.

What is the cost to referrers?

Costs are £1287.00 per student per 39 week academic year equivalent of £11.00 per hour per student. (Includes accreditation fees based on groups of 8 students)
